Services are about equidistant to Milford PA and Stroudsburg, PA where both towns are county seats and have shopping centers with supermarkets and big box stores. Both are about 30 minutes from Tamiment. Ther is a deli and a Turkey Hill gas station mini mart about 5-7 minute away.

The community has a suburban feel with 1/4 to 1/3 acre lots serviced by central water and central sewer. Roads are private and maintained by the community. No lots in Tamiment are lakefront because the community owns a strip of land between the lot and the lake. Thus, owners do not have docks and must go to a lake access point to use the lake.

The community arranges for adult activities and sponsors clubs / groups.

Houses are well kept and the community is about 50 % year around / retirement and 50% vacation. There is a mix of ranch, two story, colonial and contemporary styles of homes.
