There's been a lot of denial among Poconos luxury homeowners. In 2006, as the market peaked they thought the luxury market would not suffer the fate of the broader Pocono Real Estate market. Two years later in 2008 high-end home buyers were thought to have endless, deep pockets, and this would insulate the top-tier real estate from the cratering economy. As the nation and world's markets in late 2008 went from bad to worse, some people in the real estate sales industry claimed that the lack of trophy properties outstripped supply.

This year in 2011, reality sets in. No one is buying million plus homes in the Poconos Mountains of PA . Fewer are buying $2 million homes. Properties in these ranges are either being reduced by amounts similar to the national debts of small countries, or are being pulled from the market entirely.
